Developments launched earlier will continue in Debrecen
In the last few days, speculations and incorrect press reports about the government decision 1291/2024 have appeared in many places.
In this context, the Municipality of Debrecen and the Government firmly declare that the cooperation between the City of Debrecen and the Government will continue to be based on a solid alliance. The Municipality aims to ensure that the previously announced developments are fully implemented.
According to Government Decision 1291/2024, no funds will be withdrawn from any of the projects that contribute to Debrecen’s economic development. The decision states that no other resources need to be mobilised for the projects in question, as all of them can be implemented within the central budget previously allocated.
Debrecen International Airport will continue to be considered a strategic element in the city’s development. Together with the Government and the Ministry of National Economy, city leaders are working to strengthen traffic, even by attracting new airlines. In addition, ongoing developments will continue, as the economic growth and stimulating effect of Debrecen International Airport is indisputable, both for companies already operating in Debrecen and for new ones and the city’s tourism sector. The Government and the Municipality aim to make Debrecen International Airport the leading commercial airport in the region.
In the case of the Southern Economic Zone, the Government has decided that no further central budgetary funding is required in relation to the completed real estate development by NIPÜF National Industrial Park Operating and Development Ltd., which is supervised by HIPA (ownership).
In the case of the Northwestern Economic Zone, the Government’s Decision on preparing to acquire assets for the operation of the Container Terminal adjacent to the MACS Industrial Park railway station has been amended to replace the Minister of Finance with the Minister of Construction and Transport as the responsible authority for the 2024 amount of the resource guarantee.
The economic development of Debrecen will allow the city’s development to continue at the same pace as in recent years, and projects will be implemented.
