The night of shooting stars is approaching in Hortobágy
Laser sky shows, solar observations, lectures and a “meteorite petting” session are soon to be held in the Hortobágy National Park. As can be read in their programme guide, for six days, between August 9 and 14, one of the most spectacular natural phenomena of the month, the Perseid meteor shower, will be in focus.
Shooting star observation offers a special evening programme, especially in the Hortobágyi Csillagoségbolt-park (Stargazer Park), where light pollution is minimal, so the night sky is revealed to visitors in impressive detail. This year’s novelty is that the Tiszakürt Arboretum also joins the venues.
Visitors can get acquainted with various objects and phenomena in the sky with the help of amateur and qualified astronomers.
The Hortobágy Wildlife Park makes the stargazing experience even more special with unique evening feedings: a walk to the enclosures of wolves, jackals, foxes and wildcats. The sounds of the night, the smells of nature bring the magic of the starlit wilderness even closer. It gives the night a special atmosphere when the silhouettes of wild horses and ancient bulls appear in the distant pasture.
At the Pusztai Animal Park, visitors can roam among native domestic animals, spy on the evening sky, count “shooting stars” and learn some knowledge in the field of astrophotography from the experts present.
You can find out about the detailed programme of the locations on the national park’s website.
