Debrecen student recognised at the Central European Olympiad in Informatics

According to the Neumann Society, students from fifteen countries competed in the region’s most significant IT study competition.

A student from Debrecen was also recognised at the Central European Informatics Student Olympiad.

Among the four-member Hungarian delegation led by Péter Csorba and Júlia Éles, Balázs Szilágyi (Veres Péter Grammar School in Békásmegyeri) won a silver medal, while Gergely Sánta (Fazekas Mihály Practice Grammar School in Budapest) and Zsolt Mihály (Árpád Grammar School in Óbuda) won bronze medals.

The fourth competitor of the delegation, a student of Fazekas Mihály Grammar School in Debrecen, Tamás Görömbey, performed commendably in the international field.

The highlight of the student Olympiad season this year will be the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI), which will be held between July 27 and August 3 in Sucre, the constitutional capital of Bolivia. Hungary will be represented by Pál Czanik, Tamás Görömbey, Ádám István Molnár, and Balázs Szilágyi.

“Between July 14 and 20, the European Girls Olympiad in Informatics (EGOI) in Bonn will feature a Hungarian foursome consisting of Dóra Horváth, Júlia Baran, Zsófia Keresztély, and Vivien Varga. The International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (IOAI), which will be held for the second time this year, will be held in Beijing between August 2 and 9, also with Hungarian participation, and the European Junior Olympiad in Informatics (eJOI) will be held between August 29 and September 4 in Shumen, Bulgaria,” the announcement concludes.
