The anniversary of the church on Pósa Street was celebrated with a thanksgiving worship service
The Pósa Street church and parish were built in 1985, which became the home of the Nagysándor-telep mission congregation. A thanksgiving worship service was held on September 14, 2025, to mark its 40th anniversary.
The thanksgiving worship service began with a joint singing on Sunday morning on Pósa Street. The 40th anniversary of the construction of the church was celebrated on the occasion.
“The church at 23 Pósa Street was built between 1983 and 1985. The church, which can accommodate about 100 people, and the parish behind it were built according to the plans of architect Ernő Kálmán,” Pastor Endre Iszlai explained.
Bishop of the Tiszántúli Reformed Church District, Károly Fekete preached the word at the festive service.
“The 18.5-meter-high tower of the church in Nagysándor-telep rises above the surrounding houses to remind us, all who live here, not only Reformed Christians but all Christians, to keep in mind that it is the duty of every Christian to look up to the blessing of God so that He may bless us,” Károly Fekete pointed out.
Deputy Mayor Diána Széles said on the festive occasion that development is very important, but the life of a community is always about what is in the hearts and what is in the souls.
“For me, development starts from here—from the fact that this community has a soul. Thank you very much! Let’s continue on the road together, because 40 years is not a short time, but we would like to continue on this road. Faith, family, and nation—what our grandparents taught us—are shaped like this. After all, without faith and without family, there is no nation. So these three, these should be our benchmark,” Diána Széles said.
The attendees were also greeted by Member of Parliament Lajos Kósa.
“Thinking back on the development and construction of the church, it beautifully symbolizes the development of the community and the district,” Lajos Kósa highlighted.
Over the years, the congregation has grown continuously, so it was necessary to expand the church. First, a new congregation center was built, and later the church was completely renovated, which is how it acquired its current form.
