The Nagymacs district is getting a new healthcare facility
The renovation of the building, which will house a children’s and an adult general practitioner’s practice, has already begun. The local government is implementing the healthcare development in Nagymacs from its own resources, almost HUF 92 million.
Almost only the walls remain in the old Nagymacs school building. The contractor has a lot of work to do in the coming months: heat and water insulation, replacement of windows and doors, painting, and tiling. All this is to create the district’s new, modern medical practices. Currently, patients are being received in the castle, but that practice is not barrier-free.
“We are very happy that the elementary school building can fulfill this role after the renovation, both in terms of its statics and its function. Nagymacs now has a population of nearly a thousand, the number of people moving here is constantly increasing, and they love this district very much,” said local government representative Erzsébet Katona.
The building will house an adult and a children’s general practitioner’s clinic and will be barrier-free. The renovation cost is close to HUF 92 million, which the local government will pay from its own funds.
Many medical offices in the city have been renovated with EU funds, but there are also some for which the local government was unable to apply.
Deputy Mayor Diána Széles said that an important goal is to ensure that residents in every part of the city have access to high-quality care, and as a result of the economic developments of the past 10 years, the city can finance more welfare developments.
“That is why it has been important in the past 10 years for the city to receive revenues from which we can implement programs that truly help people’s lives and make even a medical office more comfortable and modern. I think this is also a very important step in the lives of the people of Nagymacs, as we can provide them with quality care,” she said.
The contractor has 8 months to renovate the building, so the people of Nagymacs can take possession of the modern and barrier-free medical offices next spring.
