This year, the Debrecen Bar Association is 150 years old, and on this occasion, the Déri Museum is recalling important moments from the professional organization’s century-and-a-half-long past with a special exhibition.
Historical trials, March’s young lawyers—the exhibition features more than two hundred period documents and artifacts, as well as fifteen tableaux, giving a glimpse into the one hundred and fifty-year history of the legal profession in Debrecen and Hungary.
At the opening of the anniversary exhibition on Wednesday, Mayor László Papp said that the Debrecen Bar Association is one of the organizing forces of the legal community in the region, which has been proving the importance of its work for a century and a half.
The city leader, who has a law degree, emphasized that although much has changed in a century and a half, the foundation of the legal profession remains unchanged: the search for justice, respect for human dignity, and faith in the administration of justice.
