Major step forward in widening Debrecen’s bypass to four lanes
The government agrees to the completion of the land acquisition and land preparation tasks for the four-lane extension of main 481 and requested that János Lázár, Minister of Construction and Transport, start a conditional procurement process to appoint the contractor after the implementation plans are completed. The government decision on this can be read in the latest issue of the Hungarian Gazette. According to the decision, HUF 285 million will be provided for the preparatory work.
After the conclusion of the conditional public procurement procedure, the Minister of Construction and Transport will have to prepare a proposal for the government, based on the received bid prices, to continue the investment and to make a decision on securing the funds.
Main road 481, the southern bypass road of Debrecen, connects main road 47 with the M35 highway and is 5.5 kilometers long.
The traffic on the road section is already significant, but its importance will increase even more in the future due to the population growth of the Southern Economic Zone. According to the plans, main road 481 will be widened to four lanes in two phases: in the first phase for 2.5 kilometers starting from the highway, and in the second phase from there to main road 47.
The development will include the construction of a roundabout at kilometer 4+800, at the intersection of main road 481 and Wallau Street. Wallau Street runs behind the Krones and Deufol plants.
The Ministry of Construction and Transport announced a public procurement for the design of the first phase, and the contract was won by UNITEF’83 Technical Design and Development Co. Ltd., with a gross bid of HUF 379 million.
In addition to preparing the permitting and construction plans, the winning company will also be responsible for obtaining the necessary building permits. They also had to prepare the installation study plan, which they have already completed.
