A development important to many nearby residents is starting in Debrecen’s industrial park
People driving on Highway 47 between Debrecen and Mikepércs may have noticed that earthworks have begun in the Southern Economic Zone of Debrecen, close to the main road and just north of Krones’ factory.
As confirmed by Debreceni Infrastruktúra Fejlesztő Kft. (Debrecen Infrastructure Development Ltd.), the current earthworks are for a newly started phase of capacity expansion to the already operating public wastewater drainage network and for a gas pipeline construction in the southern district, in parallel with the infrastructure developments planned for the Southern Economic Zone and with the currently ongoing and future residential infrastructure developments in the southern and eastern parts of the city. Starting at the end of 2025, the development includes a new section of public sewer main as well as a gas-pipeline network laid in a route parallel to Highway 47, along with the associated structures. Preparatory work is already underway, and archaeologists are also working in the area.
Carried out with state support and under the municipality’s investment in continuation of an ongoing wastewater infrastructure project, this buildout will include approximately 3 kilometers of new public sewer trunk line. Debreceni Infrastruktúra Fejlesztő Kft. emphasized that this modernisation—which aims both to upgrade the existing network and increase its transport capacity—will allow future phases to be built upon it, increasing the operational reliability of the public wastewater system in the region.
