A new chapter in logistics has begun in Debrecen
Ghibli Kft. is strengthening its presence in Debrecen with a strategic change of scale, having launched a direct train from Koper, handed over its new warehouse base, and also obtained a certificate guaranteeing high safety.
As the world accelerates, the demand for flexible and sustainable supply chains is growing. Ghibli Kft.’s developments in Debrecen—a gigantic new warehouse base and a direct train from Koper—respond to exactly this challenge, elevating the city to a strategic logistics center.
It is no coincidence that interested parties were able to encounter the company’s stand at the Business Fest Debrecen event on November 27 at the Kölcsey Center.
The world of logistics in 2025 will no longer be just about moving goods but also about speed, safety, and sustainability.
Global supply chains must keep up with ever-increasing expectations, which is why innovative solutions that connect different modes of transport are also essential in the Hungarian market.
Ghibli Kft. has taken significant steps in this direction in Debrecen this year.
Strategic base in the vicinity of the airport
The most spectacular element of the development is the new logistics center of nearly 23 thousand square meters, which began operating in the immediate vicinity of Debrecen International Airport, in the Southern Economic Zone.
The hall, developed by the Xanga Group and built with the most modern industrial technology, is not only impressive in size but also fills a gap in its function.
As Zoltán Szabó, CEO of Ghibli Kft., put it, “Debrecen will become a distribution logistics center in Hungary that will be able to supply not only the city but also the surrounding countries.”
This new base serves as a strategic point in the region: the city provides quick access to various parts of the country and border markets, which is a key competitive advantage.
With the development, the company now operates on more than 120 thousand square meters, and further capacity expansion is planned.
By rail from the coast to the Great Forest
Ghibli Kft. has recognized that intermodal systems are gaining an increasingly important role in international freight transport, where rail plays the main role.
In this spirit, the first direct train from the Slovenian port of Koper to Debrecen arrived this year.
This new rail connection is revolutionary in several ways: the direct route reduces transit time and avoids road congestion, and rail freight offers an environmentally friendly alternative, significantly reducing the ecological footprint compared to road transport.
Thanks to the development, Debrecen is not just a terminal but an active link between Western Europe and the Eastern markets.
Top-notch security: TAPA certification
In addition to the increase in quantity, quality has also received special attention. Security is a critical issue, especially in the case of high-value goods—such as electronic goods or special components.
After eighteen months of rigorous preparation, Ghibli Kft. has obtained the internationally recognized TAPA FSR C security certificate. This certification is a guarantee for partners that their goods will be stored with the highest level of security measures.
Who is the new Debrecen facility recommended for?
Ghibli’s complex service package—warehousing, customs clearance, and intermodal transport—offers solutions for a wide range of needs:
- For online stores: maintaining short delivery times is now essential for customer satisfaction.
- For manufacturers: uninterrupted supply of raw materials and safe storage of finished products are ensured.
- For SMEs and multinationals: the possibility of flexible warehouse rental helps businesses grow regardless of size.
Thanks to the logistical capabilities of Debrecen, the city’s management, and the strategic cooperation of Ghibli Kft., the region has become a real distribution center.
