Another Community Garden Opens in Tócóskert

As announced by city councillor János Sánta on Facebook, a second community garden was officially opened in Debrecen’s Tócóskert district last week.

The first community garden in Tócóskert was established in 2022, providing residents of the housing estate with a place to plant and maintain a variety of produce. At the time, the site comprised 14 raised beds, enabling 28 families to grow their own crops, and was expanded a year later. In addition, residents in two other districts of Debrecen – Újkert and Vénkert – also have access to community gardening facilities.

In his post, János Sánta wrote that community gardens have played an important role in strengthening local communities on the city’s housing estates in recent years. He added that he is particularly pleased that a second such garden has now been completed in Tócóskert, located in the southern part of the district.
