Campus Festival Opens in Debrecen’s Great Forest

At 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, the most dedicated members of the crowd were finally able to enter the Campus Festival grounds where one of Hungary’s largest music festivals will take place over the next four days. This year’s edition welcomes visitors with a strong international line-up, a refreshed programme, and several organisational innovations.

New and returning headliners include Scooter, Armin van Buuren, Azahriah, Tankcsapda, Majka, Quimby, Halott Pénz and Beton.Hofi. The programme is further enriched by new community and music venues, as well as an even more cultural activities, while organisers are also placing particular emphasis on safety.

Those arriving on Wednesday afternoon will be able to hear students from the University of Debrecen’s Institute of Contemporary Music, while the main stage will host performances by ByeAlex és a Slepp, Metzker Viki and Azahriah. The Vojtina Puppet Theatre will launch the festival with one of more than one hundred programmes, alongside a community-based, interactive and experimental visual arts project on Art Street.

Performing on home turf will be Pipacs, PG Csoport, Philaūtia, and Panel.Balett. Festival-goers will even have the chance to win full festival pass for next year on the opening day at the panel discussion organised as part of the Szólj be a papnak! series between two concerts.

There is also good news for festival-goers: on the nights of 23 to 26 July, an additional passenger train service will operate between Debrecen and Nyíregyháza to ensure a smooth journey home after the festivities. DKV’s Tram Line 1 services will run every 14–16 minutes, while night buses and trains departing from Debrecen Main Station will operate in coordination with the tram timetable.

The full line-up and all important information can be found on the official website.
