Applications for NGO, Cultural, Youth, and Sports Funds – 2026
The Municipality of Debrecen has once again announced its calls for applications this year for NGO, Cultural, and Youth Funds, as well as for the support of sporting activities.
Details were presented on 30 March 2026 to representatives of organisations interested in these opportunities at the Debrecen municipal civil grants forum, organised in cooperation between staff of the Municipality of Debrecen and the Hajdú-Bihar County Civil Community Service Centre.
In her welcome address, Deputy Mayor Diána Széles expressed her pleasure at the high level of interest, which shows that these funding opportunities – which the organisers strive to adapt to the requirements of everyday life, changing conditions and the needs of applicants – are becoming increasingly popular among the more than 1,600 non-governmental organisations in Debrecen. This figure itself clearly demonstrates the strong sense of cooperation in the city and the shared intention for citizens to act together in the interest of common causes. The Deputy Mayor thanked this civil collaboration, which creates a greater whole from many small teams, and emphasised that a city can truly become a strong community when there are people who do a great deal for it. Running an NGO is, in fact, a dedicated, caring activity carried out for the benefit of the community and the improvement of others’ lives, unconstrained by time limits. It simply cannot work otherwise. The municipality aims to further strengthen non-governmental organisations, as there is a growing public demand for their work. Therefore, it supports their operations and programme organisation activities through these grant schemes.
This year’s call for applications is available on the www.debrecen.hu website. Applications may be submitted via the https://civilpalyazat.debrecen.hu online platform. The deadline for submission is 4.00 p.m. on 23 April 2026.
