CATL Debrecen to Launch New Recruitment Campaign with Strong Community Presence

Over the coming months, CATL Debrecen will be present at major events such as the Campus Festival and the Flower Carnival, while continuing to strengthen its professional partnerships with educational institutions. CATL Debrecen currently employs 1,470 people, and the company’s goal is to increase its workforce to 2,300 employees by the end of the year.

Wide-ranging career opportunities in the region

Running from July until mid-September, CATL Debrecen’s fifth recruitment campaign is aimed at people living in Debrecen and its surrounding metropolitan area. As a result of the company’s investment project that began in 2022, battery module production is now taking place on three production lines. Once the necessary permits have been obtained, test production of battery cells can also begin, which is expected to lead to a further significant increase in workforce numbers.

In its statement, the company said that, as an international market leader, it offers development opportunities for local employees at one of Europe’s most advanced manufacturing facilities, operating with Industry 4.0 technologies. The company is primarily seeking applicants for roles in production, logistics, quality assurance and occupational safety, although office-based positions are also continuously being advertised.

As part of the campaign launching in mid-summer, CATL Debrecen’s recruitment team will attend several major events, including the Campus Festival in July and the Flower Carnival in August. Interested candidates will also encounter the campaign through outdoor advertising, on vehicles and across online platforms.

Training and talent development in focus

CATL Debrecen considers it one of its key priorities to identify and support young local talent. In recent years, the company has entered into long-term strategic agreements with several educational institutions in Hungary, which have become important partners, and regularly participates in university and vocational school events such as the Debrecen Skills Festival, Hello Szakma, the University of Debrecen Job Fair and Career Day, and the Faculty of Science and Technology Professional Day.

CATL’s Hungarian subsidiary entered into a strategic cooperation agreement with the University of Debrecen in 2024 to support the practical training of engineering specialists, contribute to curriculum development, and implement joint research projects in the fields of battery technology and the energy industry. The company’s internship programme has attracted strong interest for years, allowing students to gain insight into the company’s operations while still completing their studies.

Since 2024, the company has also been developing its cooperation with the Debrecen Vocational Training Centre (DSZC). At DSZC recruitment events, students can learn not only about employment opportunities but also about the company itself and the career paths it offers. In the future, the partnership between CATL Debrecen and DSZC may deepen further: the company plans to introduce a scholarship programme for technical college students and organise joint training programmes for future employees, including industrial mechanical, electrical and quality assurance technicians.

Workforce could grow to 2,300 employees by the end of 2026

As a result of four recruitment campaigns since 2023, the company currently employs 1,470 people, including both permanent staff and agency workers. In addition, Chinese specialists are supporting the smooth launch of production at the battery cell plant. Alongside installing the technology, they are also helping to transfer the expertise required to operate the facility and prepare Hungarian employees for manufacturing operations. The company’s goal is to work with a workforce of 2,300 people by the end of the year.

Employing local workers remains a priority for CATL Debrecen. However, the battery industry is an entirely new economic sector in Hungary, and the company uses some of the world’s most advanced technologies. As a result, recruiting sufficient numbers of talented local employees requires particularly significant effort.

Given the scale of the Debrecen investment and the advanced technologies employed at the plant, CATL Debrecen requires a large number of employees who are eager to learn and capable of adapting to a modern manufacturing environment. During the selection process, the company places the greatest value on talent, knowledge, diligence, commitment and openness to new technologies.

The expansion of CATL Debrecen is important not only for the company itself but also for the wider region. The creation of new jobs, cooperation in vocational education and the introduction of advanced industrial technologies all contribute to Debrecen’s economic development and enhance the competitiveness of the region as a whole.
