Code red has come into effect
At a Wednesday press conference in Budapest held by the dedicated task force, Attila Fülöp, state secretary for social care policy at the Ministry of the Interior, announced that code red came into effect from 8 a.m. on Wednesday morning.
Accordingly, social institutions are obliged to admit homeless people in distress due to the weather, regardless of their assigned duties.
It was also stated at the Wednesday press conference that all state bodies are working at full capacity to resolve the situation caused by the extraordinary snowfall, and the operational task force is asking local governments to do the same.
In a unique initiative nationwide, Debrecen-based telephone reporting service provider ReFoMix Kft. has created an online reporting system through which anyone can submit a report.
During a Tuesday visit to a warming center maintained for people without shelter, Mayor László Papp drew attention to the fact that, if we encounter someone in need of help or care, we should call the ambulance service at the 112 emergency number, or contact the staff of ReFoMix Kft. at the 24-hour phone number +36 30 206 1377.
