On 8 May, 2027, Aretha Franklin’s extraordinary legacy will come to life through a soulful performance by Gisele Jackson at Debrecen’s Kölcsey Centre.
Born in Baltimore and raised in Brooklyn, Gisele Jackson toured with Ray Charles as one of his “Raylettes,” shared the stage on numerous occasions with the incomparable Donna Summer, and performed alongside James Brown, the Godfather of Soul. She has performed in more than 30 countries across four continents: Africa, Asia, Europe and North America. A regular performer at award ceremonies and Hollywood premieres, she has also sung at the inauguration ceremony of US President Bill Clinton.
Today, Gisele works as a cultural ambassador, allowing her to share and interpret the music she loves with audiences around the world – from New York to Norway, Morocco to Malaysia, and Barcelona to Beirut.
As a young child, Gisele would listen to Aretha Franklin playing on the jukebox in her father’s bar. Aretha had an enormous influence on her, not only through her artistry but also through the person she was.
Accompanied by the Prima Primissima Award-winning Budapest Jazz Orchestra, Gisele Jackson will perform classics including Respect, (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman, I Say a Little Prayer, Think and Chain of Fools.
Tickets are available in advance online.
