Great ForestOne of Hungary’s largest contemporary music and cultural events, Campus Festival takes place on 22-26 July in 2026, following the usual Wednesday-to-Saturday schedule, in the heart of the Great Forest.
Over the years, Campus Festival has grown far beyond the boundaries of a traditional music festival. Today, it has become Eastern Hungary’s largest summer gathering, where music, culture, innovation, sport and community experiences come together in one vibrant event. Last year, more than 121,000 visitors attended the festival, reinforcing its position as one of Hungary’s most significant cultural events. Once again, this year’s line-up features some of the biggest names from both the Hungarian and international music scenes.
Leading the international acts is Dutch trance icon Armin van Buuren, whose name has been synonymous with spectacular electronic music performances for decades. He will be joined in Debrecen by the legendary German dance group Scooter, a defining force on the European electronic music scene for more than thirty years. The festival will also welcome New York hardcore pioneers Cro-Mags, British electronic duo Switch Disco, Barcelona-based world music favourites Che Sudaka, and Tokyo Machine, whose distinctive sound has earned a cult following among both gamers and EDM fans.
Campus Festival continues to place great emphasis on offering unique cultural and community experiences alongside its musical programme. This year, Art Street will once again serve as a creative hub where contemporary art, live performances, interactive installations and spectacular light displays blend with the natural surroundings. Festivalgoers can enjoy creative board games, outdoor artworks, immersive spatial installations and unexpected visual experiences, as art moves beyond the traditional gallery setting to become an integral part of everyday festival life.
The festival, however, is about much more than music. One of this year’s most spectacular attractions will be the vibrant street theatre programme, offering unforgettable entertainment for visitors of all ages. Along the tree-lined promenades of the Great Forest, audiences can enjoy performances by acrobats, jugglers, stilt walkers, giant puppets, costumed characters and breathtaking aerial artists. Festivalgoers will also encounter unusual vehicles and colourful street parades throughout the event, adding even more excitement and visual spectacle to the festival atmosphere.
One of Campus Festival’s defining features is its strong emphasis on community engagement and social initiatives alongside its cultural and entertainment programme. More than fifty non-governmental organisations will be present across the festival site, while visitors can take part in a wide range of workshops, discussions and interactive activities. The University of Debrecen will also showcase its academic programmes and research fields, with dedicated venues for those interested in innovation, science and career development. The Job Street zone will introduce young people to a variety of career opportunities, while the Kid & Art area will offer engaging creative activities and family-friendly experiences for younger visitors.
