Following the Flower Carnival, Debrecen will once again host major 3×3 basketball tournaments from 26 to 30 August. Now in its 12th year, the basketball festival will once again feature three competitions in the Arena set up in front of the Great Reformed Church, with the prize-money tournaments for women’s and men’s teams joined once again by the U21 Nations League.

Debrecen will become the capital of 3×3 basketball in the period between the Flower Carnival and the start of the school year in September. The events will get under way on Wednesday with the U21 Nations League, where spectators will also be able to cheer on Hungary’s youth national teams. Three consecutive one-day tournaments will be held in the arena on Kossuth Square, with Hungary taking on the Netherlands, Poland, Ukraine, Austria and Ireland. The first three rounds of the series were held in Szolnok at the beginning of August, where the men’s team coached by József Lekli won two bronze medals, while Andrea Károlyi’s players claimed a silver.

On Thursday, alongside the Nations League, the Women’s Series, the women’s prize-money competition, will also get under way, with both the Hungarian national team and Debrecen taking part. The home teams will face a tough challenge, as another exceptionally strong field will assemble in the city, with the Netherlands and Beijing, ranked second and third in the world, as well as Bucharest, which has already won two tournaments, and Olympic silver medallists Spain among the participants. With almost USD 50,000 in total prize money at stake, there will also be fierce competition for ranking points, with only two rounds remaining before the grand final in Beijing in September.

Winners will be crowned in both competitions on Friday, meaning the weekend will be devoted entirely to the World Tour Masters. Hungary will also be represented in the men’s prize-money competition, with the national team once again competing under the name Debrecen. The squad will feature Balázs Kelemen, Dániel Komma and Mátyás Molnár, alongside Tamás Ivosev, a legend of the discipline who previously played for DEAC. The Hungarian side has been drawn in a group with Miami and Toulouse, whose squads are built around American and French national-team players respectively, so progressing from the group would be a major achievement. One of the strongest fields in the history of the 2026 Debrecen Masters will take to the court, with eight of the world’s top ten players represented, alongside a host of Olympic, World and European champions.

As well as offering free admission to all matches, the organisers will once again provide a continuous programme of entertainment and an authentic 3×3 atmosphere. Numerous food trucks will be available for fans, while matches can also be followed on a giant screen alongside the grandstand, which can accommodate almost 1,000 spectators. During breaks and between games, the crowd will be entertained by a dunk contest, three-point shooting competition, prize draws and a range of other spectacular activities. The fast-paced matches, DJs, close proximity to the crowd and the unique atmosphere associated with street basketball combine to create an experience rarely matched by other sporting events.
