On 21 May, Karakter 1517 Bookshop and Café will host a special wine tasting evening, where Balázs Ludányi, winemaker of the Centurio Vineyard in Gyöngyöstarján, will personally present his work and philosophy.

Built upon a family tradition spanning more than a century, the estate produces its wines on just a few hectares, using knowledge and passion passed down from generation to generation. Here, winemaking is not merely a profession but a way of life: respect for the grapevine, humility towards nature, and a continuous pursuit of honest wines that faithfully reflect their terroir.

Today, Balázs continues to work alongside his father, while the estate’s daily life is shaped equally by family heritage and modern thinking. His wines express the freshness, vibrant acidity, and distinctive character of the cool-climate Mátra Wine Region.

An evening where guests will not only taste wines, but also gain insight into the past, present, and future of a wine region.
