ISD provides a fun Saturday program to children with a rich learning experience. These interactive and engaging sessions for kindergarten and elementary school students (Grade 1-3) are designed to give kids and their families a glimpse into the transformative world of IB education through play. Across the session on the 25th of May, children will have the opportunity to participate in hands-on activities which are playful andl also enjoyablle. Through these activities, they will learn valuable skills and gain great knowledge on topics that will be definitively useful in their future learning. The program encourages creativity and critical thinking and guarantees a great Saturday program for the kids and their parents. The sessions are conducted by experienced IB teachers both in English and Hungarian, so no English knowledge is required. On the 25th  and the 26th of May, children will take the  stage in the Zoo, where we'll be welcoming children and adults alike with a spring-renewed natural wonder and stars of the Baby Boom, unlimited theme park adventures and a grand programme of events, 100 children's activities over the two days, including music, magic and extreme sports. In view of the rich programme of activities, on the 25th and the 26th of  May, the Amusement Park is open from 10:00 a.m. to 18:00 p.m.  with a HUF 2,500 per person ticket or a HUF 6,800 per person magic wristband for unlimited use of the amusement machines, while zoo tickets for the amusement park are available at the normal price on site and online. Hortobágy Wildlife Park's "extra" program is a 20-25-minute program, where visitors can see wild horses and ancient bullocks up close from an SUV vehicle.  The price of the program is  free for children under 18 on this day, 2,500 HUF/person for adults.  The program is available all day, the intention to participate in it needs to be indicated separately at Vadló buffet located within the Wildlife Park area. Please note that the extra safari is weather dependent. This year, for the first time, rural cinemas will join the Friss Hús (Fresh Flesh) festival for seven days, Apolló Cinema will also be the location of the program. About the festival: In 2024, the Friss Hús Budapest International Short Film Festival will be held for the twelfth time. The primary purpose of Friss Hús is to present the latest Hungarian and foreign short films, as well as to build a professional forum where creators who want feedback and dialogue can show their films to a larger audience. The screenings are usually sold out and generate significant professional and press coverage. The increasing number of visitors to the festival every year proves that short films are of wide interest. In Debrecen, the works of the Hungarian competition film blocks of the festival will be screened for seven days between the 30th of May and the 5th of June at Apolló Cinema. What is “kidlit”? What are the borders of children’s literature and who is the target audience? What is the difference between a young adult and a child? How are such literary works approached in academia? To learn the answers to these questions (and perhaps give your own take on them), interested guests can join for this month’s interactive presentation at American Corner Debrecen. The session will look at past and current trends and genres in American children’s and young adult fiction, explore how popular books for adults influence works for a younger audience, and embrace our inner children while the novels that played a crucial part in our childhood are discussed. The event will be led by György Kiss, a PhD candidate at the Institute of English and American Studies, UD, who is an avid reader and researcher of children’s and young adult literature. The Night of Literature invites you on an extraordinary journey through world literature. Over three nights, actors will read excerpts from 24 authors from 24 countries, in places not necessarily connected to literature, but which will show it in a new light.  This year's theme, to which the selected texts are linked, is the “ Opposite Shore”. For the sixth year running, Debrecen has hosted literary readings in atmospheric downtown venues. The texts, representing the many shades of world literature, are brought to life by the Csokonai National Theatre's theatre artists. The readings will take place in 8 outdoor venues in parallel from 7:00 p.m.  to 9:30 p.m., with a rain venue provided. At each venue, a 10-15 minute excerpt of a particular author's work will be performed, starting at 7:00 p.m, 7:30 p.m, 8:00 p.m., 8:30 p.m., 9:00 p.m. Each venue will offer a taste of literature from different countries on different days. You can plan your own literary itinerary for the day, with the help of a printed map. Participation is free of charge and no pre-registration is required. The Lavender Garden in Ondód invites visitors to an extraordinary pre-harvest where  the tranquillity of picnicking among the scents of lavender with your family and your partner can be experienced on the 1st of June. Guests can now take a seat among the rows of lavender, relax and enjoy a snack, in the meantime harvest, take photos or just enjoy the sunset, which shows a different face every day.  At the end of the event to complete the relaxation, there is a possibility to take part in a sound bath. To ensure peace of mind, only the first 30 registrations are accepted.
