German Language and Culture Take Centre Stage at Wunderbar Festival
Wunderbar Festival is being held in Hungary for the fifth time between 20 and 25 April, placing in centre the German language, as well as the culture, music, gastronomy and traditions of German-speaking countries.
The city of Debrecen is once again participating in the programme series this year, and as part of this the German Career Day will be held at the Kölcsey Centre. On the morning of 22 April, students from the region will have the opportunity to get acquainted with companies of German interest. That same afternoon – also at the Kölcsey Centre – German culture will be brought to life in the city through musical works, as this year’s motto is “Music Connects Us – German, Austrian and Swiss Classics”.
During the week, numerous institutions are preparing closed school quizzes and competitions. On the morning of Friday, 24 April, the organisers will entertain the youngest children with a German-language musical session.
More than 200 events across several hundred institutions offer a diverse programme throughout the country – from theatre performances and concerts to readings, exhibitions, and educational and scientific programmes. Schools, universities and cultural institutions are actively supporting the festival.
Wunderbar Festival is organised in cooperation with the German, Austrian and Swiss embassies, as well as additional educational and cultural institutions. Its aim is to spark interest in learning German and to strengthen the role of the German language in education, science and the economy.
