Harro Höfliger Hungary Kft., formerly known as Manz, celebrates the 20th anniversary of its operations in Debrecen with the launch of a significant production expansion.

The sustainability-centred investment will more than double the number of employees and production capacity of the German-based machinery manufacturer.

The Debrecen-based machine manufacturer, which has been in production since 2004, has an annual turnover of around EUR 20 million. The 20th anniversary of the company, which employs more than 220 people, is a double turning point. After Manz, it is now owned by the German Harro Höfliger, a manufacturer of medical technology machinery for the pharmaceutical industry. The company is expanding significantly in the Határ út industrial park. In addition to the existing 4,500 square metre hall, a 9,000 square metre plant will be built, with production taking place on both floors in a unique way.

“The upper level has a load of two tonnes per square metre, which is significant, and we have set a target to operate completely carbon dioxide-free by 2035,” Csaba Juhász, Managing Director of Harro Höfliger Hungary Kft., said.

A symbolic groundbreaking ceremony was held to mark the start of the construction of the environmentally friendly production hall. The 20-year-old local company’s investment in production expansion is of great importance for the city’s economic development and sustainability.

“With the addition of a new owner, an even stronger group of companies with even longer-term plans has been created, and they are looking to make improvements that will increase their workforce to 450 employees. They are also considering the important environmental concerns to all of us here in Debrecen,” Deputy Mayor Ákos Balázs stressed.

Harro Höfliger’s new factory hall is scheduled for completion in a year. The investment will more than double the company’s production capacity.
