Izsó Street fully renovated in Debrecen
The potholes and cracks are gone—Izsó Street has been completely renewed.
As part of Debrecen’s large-scale asphalt resurfacing initiative, the street was reconstructed in two phases.
The second phase of the renovation began in early June, with the old asphalt removed and replaced with a fresh new layer. The transformation is now complete, and residents—who had long awaited the upgrade—can enjoy a smoother, more pleasant street environment.
The project is part of the city’s broader “Debrecen 2030” urban development program, which includes infrastructure upgrades across multiple neighbourhoods. Renovation of Izsó Street began last year when a 315-meter section between Kardos Albert Street and Dobsina Street was modernised.
This year’s phase extended the renovation by another 144 meters, reaching Besze János Street.
The complete reconstruction took place in two stages: the first completed in 2024, and the second finished in 2025. Work officially concluded on June 24, marking the completion of the complete transformation of Izsó Street. As municipal representative Róbert Juráskó emphasised, the street has now been completely renewed.
The project also included levelling the utility hole covers to match the new surface. Altogether, the two phases of the renovation totalled nearly HUF 95 million.
