The details were presented at a press conference held on the 19th of July 2024 by the municipal representative of the area, Aurélia Ibolya Orosz.

Aurélia Ibolya Orosz said earlier that transport development is also a very important issue for the city administration. Thus, as in previous years, large-scale road rehabilitation works will continue throughout the city in 2024 under the Debrecen 2030 programme. She added that she was pleased to report that the asphalting of Tóth Árpád Street had also been completed.

As for the details, the municipal representative emphasised that the works started on the 1st of July, in response to public demand. The reason for this was to allow the students and graduates of the Mihály Fazekas High School to finish the school year without being disturbed by the work. Thanks to the contractor’s fast and precise work, the project was completed on the 16th of July.

She explained that after the discussions with the residents, the contractor also fixed the parking lots in the street. This will allow citizens to use this stretch of road in a civilised and dignified environment.

The project involved the removal of the worn asphalt wearing course, the levelling of the existing utility installations, the laying of the new asphalt wearing course and the landscaping of the parking areas. The investment on 140 metres was financed with a gross amount of HUF 24 million from local government funds.

At the end of her press conference, Aurélia Ibolya Orosz thanked the residents for their patience with the development, which will allow locals to travel safely and comfortably on this stretch of road.
