Level I Water Restrictions to End in Debrecen

Following a recommendation from Debreceni Vízmű Zrt., the Municipality of Debrecen will lift the order imposing Level I water restrictions from 6:00 am on 18 August 2026. The restrictions were introduced on 3 August 2026.

The water restrictions introduced during the heat alert were intended to ensure a continuous and uninterrupted supply of drinking water.

During the period of restrictions, the disciplined and conscious use of water by both residential and non-residential consumers helped prevent fluctuations in water pressure and water shortages. As consumption fell thanks to responsible water use, and with weather conditions becoming more favourable, Debreceni Vízmű Zrt., which is responsible for the water supply, recommended that the Municipality of Debrecen lift the Level I water restrictions.

The municipality thanks the people of Debrecen for their responsible behaviour and cooperation.
