Municipality Looking for Debrecen’s Christmas Tree

As per its tradition, the Municipality of Debrecen is once again inviting offers from residents for Debrecen’s Christmas tree. Every year, a donated fir tree stands in the city centre, in Kossuth Square in front of the Great Reformed Church, symbolising our shared Christmas celebration. Let’s continue this tradition this year. If you have a fir tree at least 15 metres tall with a well-proportioned crown in your garden or on your property, and would like it to decorate the city’s main square, please consider donating it. We welcome applications from all parts of Debrecen.

Specialist staff will personally inspect the trees offered based on the applications received and the municipality will arrange for the winning tree to be felled and transported safely. An important consideration in the selection process is that the tree can be safely accessed by the vehicles required for felling and transporting it.

To apply please send an email to kabinet@ph.debrecen.hu by 31 October 2026 at the latest, providing the following information:

  • Exact address, name and contact details of the person making the offer;
  • Approximate height of the fir tree, along with several photographs;
  • Short personal story connected to the tree.
