New solution helps homeless care in Debrecen
The public can notify professionals via a mobile application if they see homeless people in need of help somewhere. The winter crisis period in homeless care has been going on since the beginning of November. The institutions in Debrecen that accommodate them are operating at full capacity.
Professionals providing care for the homeless know of almost four hundred homeless people throughout the city. The vast majority of them regularly use ReFoMix’s institutions and services.
The street social service is paying increased attention to providing care for the homeless during the winter crisis period. Despite the onset of cold weather, around fifty homeless people spend their days in public spaces in Debrecen. RefoMix is trying to encourage people living on the streets to use day care and accommodation institutions.
“All our institutions are operating at full capacity, but this does not mean that a client living on the street, who wishes to come in and whom we can encourage to do so, cannot be cared for—my colleagues are always able to solve this skillfully,” pointed out Melinda Miklósiné Balogh, deputy director of ReFoMix Nonprofit Public Benefit Ltd.
In connection with the recent increase in reports from the public, a new solution will soon help the efficiency of homeless care in Debrecen.
“With a new application, we would like to try to get intensive feedback from the public. If someone notices a homeless person in crisis in Debrecen, they can notify the ReFoMix street social service by phone, whose professionals are able to provide appropriate quick care for our fellow citizens in need within the city,” emphasized Deputy Mayor Diána Széles.
If someone notices a homeless person in crisis in Debrecen, they can also call the ReFoMix street social service, whose specialists can ensure the proper care of homeless people in need of help in the city. The phone number of ReFoMix street social service is (+36) 30 206-1377.
