Night of Museums to Return to Debrecen with Biblical Burgers and Courtyard Concerts
One of Hungary’s most popular cultural events, Night of Museums, will once again offer a diverse programme in Debrecen on 20 June, with cultural institutions preparing in close coordination for almost one hundred events across ten locations.
According to the organisers, Night of Museums demonstrates year after year that cooperation among Debrecen’s institutions creates a genuine sense of community for visitors. “Night of Museums is realised through exemplary cooperation and partnership, with shared attention, shared thinking and shared action. I believe it is important that Night of Museums is not only about ensuring that visitors enjoy themselves, but also about making sure that the institutions themselves feel they receive the attention they deserve,” said Deputy Mayor István Puskás.
A prominent place in this year’s programme is reserved for the twentieth anniversary of Modem. In addition to its exhibitions, the institution’s courtyard will be transformed into a vibrant festival venue. “The courtyard of the twenty-year-old Modem will be filled with life during Museum Night. Performers and bands from Made in Debrecen will create a festival atmosphere, allowing visitors to enjoy musical experiences between exhibition visits,” explained Kata Vizi, Managing Director of Modem.
The central theme of this year’s Night of Museums will be gastronomy. Accordingly, all participating venues will offer food tastings, culinary demonstrations and events connected to the culture of dining. The Great Reformed Church Congregation will also welcome visitors with a unique initiative: in the Memorial Garden, pastors will prepare hamburgers using ingredients inspired by the Bible. “The burgers will contain beef, naturally leavened bakery products, as well as herbs and vegetables that are mentioned in the Holy Scriptures,” explained István Oláh, President-Pastor of the Great Reformed Church Congregation.
Night of Museums on 20 June will offer cultural, musical and culinary experiences until late in the evening for the people of Debrecen and visitors arriving in the city.
