Nominations Open for City Awards

Nominations may be submitted until 24 August 2026 for individuals to be honoured on 23 October this year with the City of Debrecen’s Boncz László Award, Csokonai Award, Dóczy Gedeon Award, Hajós Alfréd Award, and Hatvani Award.

The General Assembly of Debrecen confers the “City of Debrecen Boncz László Award,” the “City of Debrecen Csokonai Award,” the “City of Debrecen Dóczy Gedeon Award,” the “City of Debrecen Hajós Alfréd Award,” and the “City of Debrecen Hatvani Award” in recognition of outstanding achievements serving the city, exceptional long-term service, or lifetime accomplishments.

Nominations for prospective award recipients may be submitted using the official nomination form prepared for this purpose, which can be downloaded or collected from the reception desk of the New Town Hall (11 Kálvin Square, Debrecen). Completed nominations must be addressed to the Mayor of Debrecen and submitted to the Cultural Department of the Mayor’s Office by 24 August 2026. Submissions may be made electronically (kultura@ph.debrecen.hu) or in hard copy (4026 Debrecen, 11 Kálvin Square).

Nominations may be submitted by natural persons who are residents of Debrecen at the time of nomination, as well as by civil organisations, churches, business entities, scientific institutes, institutions operating in Debrecen, and the leaders of communities within those institutions.
