Public Consultation Launched on Review of Debrecen’s Sustainable Urban Development Strategy
Changes that have taken place in Debrecen since the Municipality prepared a Sustainable Urban Development Strategy in line with the EU programming period 2021–2027 make it necessary to update the document. The Municipality considers it particularly important that local residents, businesses operating in Debrecen, institutions, NGOs and other organisations can all participate in the review process.
The Municipality of Debrecen prepared the city’s Sustainable Urban Development Strategy (FVS) in line with the EU programming period 2021–2027. The document sets out the city’s strategic development priorities for the period from 2021 to 2027 while also defining the areas on which Debrecen intends to focus its medium-term development efforts and the projects for which it aims to use the European Union and domestic funding available during this period.
Changes in the city since the Sustainable Urban Development Strategy was prepared have made a review and update necessary. As part of this process, the city’s current situation and development needs have been reassessed, with the review placing particular emphasis on mobility, housing, the digital and green transitions, each of which is covered by a separate document, as well as the analysis of issues related to climate change.
The Municipality considers it particularly important that local residents, businesses operating in Debrecen, institutions, NGOs and other organisations can all participate in the review process. The version of the revised Sustainable Urban Development Strategy prepared for public consultation is available on the city’s website, giving everyone in Debrecen the opportunity to submit comments online:
