On Wednesday, a community forum was held to inform residents about these developments.

Significant transportation and infrastructure improvements are expected in southeastern Debrecen. A bypass road connecting Highway 47 and Highway 354 is among the planned projects. Improving transport and public utilities is a top priority for those living in the southeastern district. Residents received detailed information about the planned enhancements in their area.

Municipal representative Szabolcs Komolay stated that residents seek easier access to various parts of the city. The construction of the bypass road aims to facilitate this goal.

The eastern part of Debrecen is crucial for the city’s growth, as expansion is most feasible in that direction. The city is also a focal point of government development policies, which could significantly impact the broader region.

Member of Parliament László Pósán emphasised that the city’s growth will follow the increase in economic potential. He noted that all ongoing development plans are part of a broader strategy to ensure Debrecen’s continued growth over the next 5, 10, 15, 20, and 25 years.

Mayor László Papp highlighted that road construction, street lighting improvements, and utility development have already taken place in the area, but there is still much to be done. He added that Debrecen’s largest garden plots are in this district, necessitating significant utility development.

“There is an ongoing major water infrastructure development program in the eastern district, including drinking water pipeline construction, the planning and subsequent implementation of the main collector of sewage channel number nine, and the development of the eastern transport corridor along Láhner Street and Létai Road,” he stated.

One of the most important upcoming projects in the eastern district is constructing a 20-kilometre bypass road connecting Highway 47 and Highway 354.
