Road Renovation Begins on Harsona Street, Csuka Street to Receive Asphalt Surfacing

The first phase road renovations has now begun on Harsona Street, while an approximately 280-metre section of Csuka Street will receive a permanent road surface. Mayor László Papp emphasised that the aim is to schedule road renovations during the summer months, as this causes less disruption to traffic.

New kerbs are being installed on Harsona Street, where work has recently commenced, while road renovation projects continue throughout the city. The municipality is seeking to schedule road renovations during the summer period in order to minimise disruption to traffic. This year, Debrecen is investing more than HUF 9 billion in transport infrastructure improvements. “Road renovation works are indeed progressing at full speed in various parts of the city. Of the three major traffic junction projects, two have now been completed. The intersections of Szoboszlai Road and Külsővásártér, as well as Csigekert–Füredi Road and Szabó Lőrinc Street, have been completed and are fully operational, with very positive results: the traffic jams and congestion previously experienced have been eliminated,” said Mayor László Papp.

In the Biharikert district, a 280-metre section of Csuka Street is being given a permanent road surface, and the pavements are also being renovated. Work is currently under way to install a new stormwater drainage system in the street. According to local residents, these improvements were much needed. “We have lived here on Csuka Street for 20 years and we love the area. We have spoken with our local representative on several occasions because we have long hoped this road would be improved and were willing to support it in any way possible. We have been waiting for it for a long time. There were occasions when an ambulance came and struggled to make its way along the road,” said Mrs Attiláné Ratku.

The municipality is asking motorists and other road users not to rely on their usual routes during the construction period, but instead to follow the temporary traffic signs placed around the road improvement works.
