Tenders for Debrecen–Nyíregyháza Railway Development Withdrawn by Ministry of Transport
By the end of last year the plans for the refurbishment of the railway line between Debrecen and Nyíregyháza had been completed, and by March the public procurement procedure for construction works was already under way.
However, as announced by incoming Minister for Transport and Investment Dávid Vitézy, the construction tenders relating to the Debrecen–Nyíregyháza railway development by had recently been withdrawn by János Lázár, the outgoing Minister for Construction and Transport.
Dávid Vitézy stated that, as a result, the incoming government will “inherit” a realistic risk of losing a further HUF 280 billion in EU funding from the outgoing administration.
According to the post, two additional developments have also been withdrawn: the construction tenders for the Budapest orbital railway at Népliget station, and for the reconstruction and modernisation of the Ferencváros section.
