The engines required for BMW models manufactured in Debrecen are already being produced
The article of vezess.hu pointed out that more than half a year after the start of pre-series production, the serial production of the 6th generation electric drivetrains that will power the BMW Neue Klasse models was officially launched on Friday.
As they wrote, the plant in the Austrian city of Steyr is the BMW Group’s largest drivetrain factory, where one million internal combustion engines are produced annually and they will also be delivered to Debrecen from there.
“Taking the new generation BMW iX3 50 xDrive model to be built in Debrecen as an example, BMW said that compared to the previous, fifth generation xDrive technology, energy losses have been reduced by 40 percent and costs by 20 percent, and the weight of the system has become 10 percent smaller. According to BMW’s calculations, this will make the new generation electric drivetrain 20 percent more fuel-efficient overall, which, combined with the advanced battery, could result in a range of up to 800 kilometers in the first BMW in Debrecen, they highlighted.
