The Faculty of Informatics of the University of Debrecen, the Department of Musicology of the University of Ljubljana and the Centre for Adult Education of the Reformed Theological University of Debrecen are jointly organising an international scientific conference on ethnographic and art theoretical issues, dance and music movement research. The organisers of the event on the 21st of Friday March will also offer online registration for those interested.
In the 21st century, full of technical innovations, dance research is gaining more and more attention, and more and more disciplines are working on dance and movement culture.
Dance can also be seen as part of cultural heritage, which opens up the possibility for disciplines such as artificial intelligence (AI) and augmented reality (XR).
These can be used to identify, analyse and recreate dance as a material for movement, education (even in 3D) and art. Also as a tool for health promotion and mental health improvement.
The interdisciplinary exploration of these themes will be the focus of the first Moving Cultures – Interdisciplinary Student Conference on Dance and Musical Movement Research on the 21st of March.
The opening speeches will be delivered by Associate Dean for Education at the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Debrecen Elek Bartha, Lecturer at the Doctoral School of History and Ethnography of the University of Debrecen Anna Mária Bólya, and Associate Professor at the Faculty of Informatics Attila Gilányi.
Afterwards, participants will present their scientific results in 5 sessions at the conference in English. In addition, a dance performance will be presented by a PhD student and Sri Lankan dance artist Lakni Kumarasiri.
