Visitors can discover the journey of the gold at the Debrecen exhibition
The newly opened exhibition invites visitors on an exciting journey through time, where they can discover a treasure trove of gold and meticulously crafted masterpieces from times long past.
The opening of the exhibition entitled “The Journey of Gold –700 Years of the Hungarian Gold Forint” was held on Friday, August 15, 2025, in the ceremonial hall of the Déri Museum.
The event was also attended by István Puskás, Deputy Mayor of Debrecen, Who Is responsible for cultural affairs.
The exhibition, open to visitors at the Déri Museum until the end of February 2026, presents the economic, financial, and historical significance of gold coins, changes in coin designs, and contemporary coinage procedures from the introduction of the gold forint to the reign of Charles IV.
The exhibition will later be supplemented by museum educational activities, as well as exciting facts about important periods in Hungarian monetary history. Additionally, memorable pieces can be discovered at special family programs.
