Womanext Academy addressed generational issues

The speakers included nationally and locally renowned professionals who imparted the knowledge needed to succeed in business through presentations and discussions.

The 6th Womanext Academy at the Kölcsey Centre started with a round table discussion. At the podium, Mayor László Papp, Chancellor of the University of Debrecen, Zoltán Bács, and Head of the Womanext Business Club, Gyöngyi Porkoláb discussed the relationship between Debrecen and generations, and the potential of cultural differences, which the Mayor said is becoming an increasingly important issue as Debrecen’s economy grows stronger.

“It is very important that Debrecen, the identity of Debrecen, the city, our cultural values are strengthened, preserved and developed, and it is also important to attract and show other cultures,” Mayor László Papp said.

Community building has a crucial role in strengthening the cultural life of the city, said the Chancellor of the University, adding that the higher education institution is thinking together with the city in this respect.

“IIt is very important in people’s lives to see how their humanity develops outside of work, study or official matters, how they spend their free time, how their human relationships develop, whether there are communities, what kind of communities they can join, whether in relation to sports, culture or other civilian activities,” Zoltán Bács said.

The Womanext Business Club was founded two years ago with the aim of reversing the flow between the countryside and the capital, and to help business leaders and those interested in entrepreneurship through knowledge-sharing practices. Thursday’s event focused on women’s roles, age and generation differences.

“How different generations and different cultures can interact, tune in and get to know each other here in the city is a very salient factor in the life of a business leader. And the transfer effect is felt in families, which is why we think it is important to address this issue in the long term,” President of the Womanext Association Gyöngyi Porkoláb summarised.

Womanext has an exciting time ahead. It was announced at the event that 14 women entrepreneurs from Hungary will have the opportunity to participate in a training course launched by the WILL Foundation in partnership with Harvard University. The leadership of the Womanext Association has been asked to be one of the ambassadors.
