Work Underway in Several Lanes on Urban Section of Route 33, with Night-time Works Starting Soon
As we previously reported, renovation of the urban section of Route 33 began at the end of June. On Monday during the day, workers were removing the old asphalt wearing course in front of the Nádor utca junction on Füredi út. The work is now nearing completion: the full-width resurfacing, together with kerb replacement and renovation of the bus stop, could be finished within a month.
On the section between University Avenue and Nádor Street, crews are working intensively in several lanes, resulting in significant traffic restrictions, but not for much longer. According to the plans, work here will be completed by early September. Meanwhile, roadworks are also under way on both sides of Füredi Road on the section leading outwards from the Böszörményi Road junction. Work will soon continue around the clock, meaning that the upgrade of this section is expected to be completed by the end of August. “The kerbs have been replaced, and asphalt milling will follow. From Monday, 24 August, the new asphalt wearing course will be laid during night-time working,” said Zsombor Gábor, Head of the City Operations Department.
The renovation of the urban section of Route 33 covers almost 2.5 kilometres of road on Füredi and Balmazújvárosi Roads. According to the plans, the final sections of the comprehensive road renovation will be completed by the end of the year.
