Refurbishment Begins on Urban Section of Main Road 33
The full-width road resurfacing project on the heavily trafficked urban section of Main Road 33 began on Füredi Road with the removal of kerbstones. As part of the project, water mains will also be reconstructed along the nearly 520-metre stretch between Bem Square and Nádor Street, while bus stops along the route will be upgraded.
“On Monday, refurbishment works began on the bus bays located here, and temporary stops have been designated for passengers. Over the coming weeks and months, kerb replacement, utility level adjustments, road milling and resurfacing works will be carried out along this section,” said Zsombor Gábor, Head of the City Operations.
The refurbishment of the 2.5-kilometre urban section of Main Road 33 is being carried out in several phases, excluding the stretches and junctions already modernised. Over the next six months, motorists should expect temporary traffic restrictions and lane closures on sections of Füredi Road and Balmazújvárosi Road in the vicinity of the works.
Work on the section of Main Road 33 between Bem Square and Nádor Street is expected to be completed by September, while the refurbishment of the entire route up to the city boundary is scheduled for completion by the end of the year.
