DSZC Honours Top Performing Students and Their Teachers

At the ceremony organised by the Debrecen Vocational Training Centre (DSZC) on 14 May, awards were presented to students who delivered outstanding performances during the current academic year. Among the students from the centre’s 11 institutions were those who achieved exceptional results in professional competitions, while others distinguished themselves through promoting vocational education. A total of 120 certificates were awarded at the ceremony.

The recognitions were presented to students who had performed above average during the academic year. As a furniture carpenter, Bence Sipos will prove his skills at the WorldSkills competition to be held in Shanghai. The young competitor is already preparing for the next major challenge. “We are trying to do everything possible to ensure that it goes as well as it can. After the competition, I would like to spend as much time as possible working in my own business,” he said.

Alexa Viktória Kiss achieved success in a profession traditionally regarded as male-dominated. The young woman won a bronze medal at the national Építech tiling competition and plans to establish her own business in the longer term. “I prepared for the practical part at my dual training placement, and I also received a great deal of support and preparation at school. After the competition, my goal is to remain where I completed my practical training and work there as a qualified tradesperson. In the longer term, I would like to start my own business,” said Alexa Viktória Kiss.

Each year, the DSZC launches an application process through which students can apply for ambassador status. A total of 22 ambassadors are selected from the 11 institutions, and they too received recognition on this occasion. “In short, the role of an ambassador is to create photographs and videos for the DSZC and, through these, promote both the centre and their own school on social media platforms. In addition, they actively participate in city events, DSZC programmes and school activities,” highlighted current ambassador Attila Mándoki.

At the award ceremony, Director General Sándor Szilágyi spoke about the centre’s aim of presenting students with career paths that can offer a secure long-term future. “The goal of the Debrecen Vocational Training Centre is to present students with career paths that extend beyond education itself and familiarise them with opportunities they can build upon in the future. We consider it important that, in every profession students learn at the centre, they can also see where and with what opportunities they may find employment,” he added.

More than 70 students received recognition for outstanding academic, sporting and competition achievements. In addition, the work of 50 teachers who contributed to preparing the successful students was also honoured.
