City Commemoration on 20 August 2026
On 20 August 2026, the Municipality of Debrecen will commemorate our national holiday, the Day of King Saint Stephen, the founder of the Hungarian state, with the following programme.
7.45 am: Ceremonial raising of the Hungarian flag in Kossuth Square
8.00 am: Flower Carnival parade
12.00 noon: Commemoration and wreath-laying ceremony at the statue of King Saint Stephen in Dósa nádor Square. The ceremonial address will be delivered by László Papp, Mayor of Debrecen
6.00 pm: Ceremonial lowering of the Hungarian flag in Kossuth Square
8.00 pm: Night-time Flower Carnival parade
