DBSC to Hold Inaugural Business Services Forum in Debrecen

Major companies, small and medium-sized enterprises, educational institutions and economic stakeholders from Debrecen and the surrounding region will come together in Debrecen on 14 and 15 October for DBSC Business Services Forum 2026 at the Forest Center. The event marks a milestone for Debrecen Business Service Centers (DBSC), established in 2018 and now comprising seven companies (BT, Diehl Aviation, Flowserve, Emerson NI, Omikron, Transcosmos and 4iG), with PwC Hungary and the National Association of Entrepreneurs and Employers (VOSZ) joining as partners.

Creating high added value locally

The business services sector is one of the key pillars of Debrecen’s economy. The service centres operating in the city not only create jobs, but also bring international expertise, advanced technological solutions and high-value-added skills to the region. In doing so, they support the development of the knowledge-based economy, corporate innovation and the long-term career prospects of local professionals.

DBSC Business Services Forum 2026 aims to further strengthen this role. Alongside developing the business service centres already operating in Debrecen, the organisers also aim to attract companies engaged in more complex, knowledge-intensive activities. In this way, the city can position itself not only as an industrial centre, but increasingly as a business, technology and knowledge hub. The conference’s motto, “Technology, knowledge and cooperation for the competitiveness of the region”, neatly sums up this ambition.

The forum will bring decision-makers from large companies, SMEs and educational institutions together in a professional setting to seek joint answers to the technological, labour-market and training challenges facing the region.

“Over the past decade and more, business services companies in Debrecen have accumulated significant knowledge and experience. The aim of our conference is to showcase practices, technological solutions and management approaches that can strengthen competitiveness, particularly among small and medium-sized enterprises in the region, as well as among large companies. In a rapidly changing economic environment, knowledge-sharing and cooperation are more important than ever. We hope the forum will make a tangible contribution to the development of Debrecen and the region as a whole,” said Róbert Hosszu, Managing Director of Emerson NI.

Turning technological change into a business advantage

The first day of the conference will focus on technological transformation and business competitiveness. Participants will examine how artificial intelligence is reshaping business services, which new operating models are coming to the fore, and how technology can become a tool for more efficient, higher-value-added operations.

Beyond presenting trends, the programme will draw on corporate examples and practical experience. The aim is for participants to encounter approaches and solutions that they can also apply within their own organisations.

International knowledge, local presence

The forum’s professional foundations will be strengthened by PwC’s international experience, broad business and technology expertise, and presence in Debrecen. Understanding global trends alongside the local business environment enables companies to develop solutions that are tailored to the region’s circumstances and development opportunities, rather than relying on generic answers.

For PwC, Debrecen is not merely a dynamically developing economic location, but also a business and knowledge hub where cooperation between companies, educational institutions and professional communities can create long-term value. The aim is to enable existing business service centres to continue growing, attract new investors and high-value-added services to the city, and ensure that the knowledge available locally strengthens the competitiveness of the wider region.

Preparing the workforce of the future together

The second professional day will focus on the future of work, the skills that will be needed, and the role of education. Representatives of companies and educational institutions will jointly seek answers to how labour-market demand and the supply of training can be brought closer together, what new forms of cooperation are needed, and how artificial intelligence is transforming jobs, recruitment and employee development.

Close relationships with educational institutions are crucial to the region’s long-term development. Feedback from businesses can help align training programmes with labour-market needs, while companies can more easily find and retain professionals with the right skills and knowledge. The shared goal is to build a sustainable pool of knowledge and talent that supports both the growth of companies already present in the region and the attraction of new business service centres to Debrecen.

Bringing corporate expertise together with local entrepreneurial strength

Thanks to VOSZ’s strategic partnership, the experiences, needs and opportunities of SMEs will also feature prominently at the conference. The forum will explore how local small and medium-sized enterprises can become more closely integrated into the value chains of the region’s major companies, and what new business partnerships could emerge between them.

“Large companies bring knowledge and scale, while SMEs bring speed and local commitment, and together they keep added value here. If we involve local businesses as suppliers and partners in the operations of the region’s major players, both profits and jobs stay here. That is the bridge we are building,” said Károly Balog, VOSZ’s county chairman.

The legacy of a conference

Alongside professional presentations and round-table discussions, personal networking and dialogue between business leaders will play a key role. The organisers aim for the conversations that begin at the forum to lead to professional and business partnerships that continue beyond the event itself.

The event marks another stage in the development of DBSC, which has been operating for eight years. Over recent years, its seven member companies – BT, Diehl Aviation, Flowserve, Emerson NI, Omikron, Transcosmos and 4iG – have strengthened the local presence of the business services sector through university and secondary-school programmes, career-orientation events and professional partnerships.

DBSC Business Services Forum 2026, organised in cooperation with PwC and VOSZ, takes this joint work to a new level. The conference aims to further strengthen Debrecen’s position as one of Hungary’s leading business service hubs and encourage new partnerships between companies, local businesses and educational institutions.
