Reading Corner Set Up at Déri Museum

A reading corner has been set up at the Déri Museum. The books on the shelves are publications produced by the museum itself; some are available to take away, while others can be browsed and read in the museum café. As a member of the We Love Books network, the museum hopes that this new community reading space will also help promote the experiences and enjoyment that books can offer.

Médiacentrum Debrecen’s crew did not arrive empty-handed but added several interesting titles to the new reading corner’s initial selection. The museum is a member of the We Love Books network, which is why the book-filled reading corner has been created in the café. The shelves will now offer all book lovers a selection of the museum’s own publications, including richly illustrated and engaging titles.

“There are some publications that are more valuable, and it may be better to browse through those here, but there will also be publications that visitors can look through and take away. And if anyone feels like bringing us a publication or two, we would be very happy to receive them,” said Krisztina Dallos-Nagy, press officer at the Déri Museum. The Déri Museum café also has a play area and reading corner, making it a genuine community space for families and all museum visitors. There are an increasing number of community book-sharing cabinets in Debrecen, and public reading spots are also very popular.

“I am very pleased that the Déri Museum is now joining this network, the network of community book-sharing cabinets, thereby encouraging the people of Debrecen to read while also reminding us that these community book cabinets are excellent meeting points where people can talk about books and many other things,” said Deputy Mayor István Puskás.

The reading corner welcomes book lovers at the Déri Museum café every day from 10:00a.m. to 5:30 p.m., except Mondays.
