Debrecen Vocational Training Meets Future Expectations
With presence in Debrecen spanning over a quarter of a century, Schaeffler is taking another important step in strengthening its secondary-level dual vocational training program.
As a result of the cooperation with the motion technology company, a new profession will soon appear in the offerings of the Debrecen Vocational Training Center, the company wrote in a statement.
Students who are about to choose a career will in the future be able to continue their studies in the industrial service technician program as well, for which the opportunity for dual, practice-oriented education will be provided by the Debrecen training workshop of the Schaeffler Academy.
Schaeffler was the first to establish a dual training program in Debrecen. Over the more than one and a half decades since 2008, several hundred students have laid the foundations of their professional knowledge in the company’s training workshop. Currently, among the professions available at the member institutions of the Debrecen Vocational Training Center, students who wish to acquire practically applicable knowledge at the Schaeffler Academy can choose dual training in electronics technician, mechatronics technician, machine manufacturing technology technician, as well as machine and CNC machining programs.
In the current academic year, more than 110 students are participating in the company’s dual training program.
“Dual training is a strategic issue for us at Schaeffler, as the key to our future lies in the hands of the younger generation,” says Péter Szabó, Director of the Schaeffler Debrecen Campus. He added that their aim is for students not to think of the company merely as a place of training, but to see Schaeffler as an opportunity to fulfill their career goals. “To this end, we offer them the highest possible standard of training, thereby ensuring that upon completing their studies they can successfully take their place as our employees,” he emphasized.
A new profession on the palette
The goal of the newly introduced industrial service technician training, which belongs to the Specialized Machinery and Vehicle Manufacturing sector of the Debrecen Vocational Training Center, is to train skilled professionals who are capable of planning, organizing, managing, and carrying out the inspection and periodic maintenance of state-of-the-art automated production equipment using modern maintenance philosophies. During their training, future students can pursue studies related to pneumatic and electro-pneumatic systems, industrial communication, programmable logic controllers, robotic systems, fault identification and troubleshooting, as well as electrical and high-voltage engineering knowledge.
Through the training, young people can become capable of meeting not only current but also future competency requirements.
According to plans, the training of the first cohort will be implemented in Debrecen in cooperation with the Sámuel Brassai Technical Secondary School. This will further expand the Debrecen portfolio of the Schaeffler Academy, responding to the development directions of Schaeffler’s Debrecen-based companies. As a result, young people who envision their future at the motion technology company can acquire modern, forward-looking knowledge.
