The Debrecen Spring Festival 2026 is arriving—and this year it carries special significance: it also marks the festive opening of the Kölcsey Centre’s 20th-anniversary celebrations.
Across ten days, the festival brings poetry, music, improvisation, family activities, and timeless hits to the stage in a continuous flow of experiences. The organizers want every generation to find something memorable—whether it’s a quiet night of poetry, carefree laughter, or a lively family event.

“Say It, Atikám! – An Evening with Attila József” – A moving literary journey to open the festival
On 9 April at 7 PM, the festival opens with the performance “Say It, Atikám! – An Evening with Attila József.” On the opening night, Miklós Vecsei H. and Gergely Balla evoke the depth and emotional world of Attila József’s poetry. The evening offers a personal and deeply touching journey through the poet’s life, loves, and verses—an uplifting literary‑musical experience for all who continue to be moved by his words.
“Treasures of Debrecen – Free Family Day” – Shared experiences for all generations
On 11 April between 2 PM and 7 PM, families take centre stage at the event entitled “Treasures of Debrecen – Free Family Day.” Visitors can enjoy craft workshops, playful activities, and demonstrations by traditional artisans throughout the Kölcsey Centre. The aim is to help children and adults discover the city’s values, traditions, and sense of community—together, in a cheerful and relaxed atmosphere.
“Fröccs with Kitti Almási – And They Lived Happily Ever After… But How? – Relationships in the spotlight
On 13 April at 7 PM, the Momentán Company presents the improvisational show “Fröccs with Kitti Almási – And They Lived Happily Ever After… But How?” The audience’s stories and dilemmas inspire a brand‑new performance every evening: familiar life situations, typical conflicts, and unspoken sentences come to life on stage. The evening’s expert guest is psychologist Kitti Almási, who offers sensitive and accessible insights into the recurring blockages and behavioural patterns that shape our relationships.
“This Is Pure Madness – Improvisational Activity” – Star‑studded fun and guaranteed laughter
On 15 April at 7 PM, “This Is Pure Madness – Improvisational Activity” begins a fast‑paced blend of live Activity gameplay and improvisational theatre. A true star lineup takes the stage: Steve Hajdu, Áron Sövegjártó, András “Topy” Faragó, Nóra Parti, Erika Náray, and Petra Gubik deliver unpredictable twists and guaranteed laughter. The show is hosted by Levente Harsányi.
“Music Train Superconcert with the Stars of Generál” – Legendary hits live
On 17 April at 7 PM, the “Music Train Superconcert with the Stars of Generál” arrives, featuring original members of Generál as they revisit one of the defining oeuvres of Hungarian pop music. The concert spans the greatest hits of both the Sándor Révész and Charlie eras. Timeless songs return to the stage with the unmistakable Generál sound and the energy that has connected generations.
“Tóth Vera Band – Spring Harmonies in Debrecen” – The festival’s closing chord
On 18 April at 7 PM, the festival concludes with the concert “Tóth Vera Band – Spring Harmonies in Debrecen.” Vera Tóth and her band bring a special spring evening to the city, where soul, jazz, and pop meet Vera’s elemental voice and the band’s virtuoso musicianship.
The Debrecen Spring Festival 2026 is more than a series of events—it is a shared celebration of art, community, and the 20th anniversary of the Kölcsey Centre. Between 9 and 18 April, culture truly blossoms in Debrecen.
