ibis Styles Debrecen Airport Hotel Operates at 70% Occupancy in First Year
Located next to Debrecen International Airport, ibis Styles Debrecen Airport has maintained an average occupancy rate of 70 per cent over the past year, Managing Director Barnabás Kövesdi told MTI on Friday.
The Debrecen hotel opened in July 2025, with the investment carried out by ibis, a brand of the Accor Group, in partnership with the Xanga Group, one of the largest investment and property development groups in eastern Hungary. “The hotel, designed with an aviation-inspired theme, offers a total of 88 rooms across five different categories, primarily serving business travellers,” the Managing Director said. According to him, the hotel accommodated around 140 guests when it was at full capacity. Even during the summer, occupancy remains at around 50 per cent, which he considers a good result, as the hotel is not primarily aimed at leisure tourists.
According to Barnabás Kövesdi, the hotel has been operating profitably since January, achieving a monthly Gross Operating Profit (GOP) margin of 20 per cent. The hotel employs 24 permanent members of staff and also welcomes students for summer work placements in partnership with secondary schools in Debrecen and a dual training programme at the University of Debrecen.
One of its most important partners is Debrecen International Airport, while the hotel also provides accommodation for the crews of certain airlines. In exceptional circumstances, it accommodates both passengers and crew, and its kitchen prepares sandwiches and refreshments for several flights. In addition, it delivers meals to employees working in offices at the airport and in the nearby industrial park.
In Hungary, the ibis Styles brand operates hotels only in Debrecen and Budapest.
