New Home Conference and Exhibition Held in Debrecen
Debrecen’s housing market remains stable, and property developers see further opportunities in the city, as discussed at the first Debrecen New Home Conference and Exhibition. Held on Saturday, the event brought together people looking for a new home in the city, as well as prospective investors, who were able to seek advice from experts in the property market, architecture, finance, law and interior design.
Debrecen’s economic growth has also led to an expansion in the supply of new residential properties. Numerous property developments have been launched across the city, while further investors are considering the opportunities Debrecen has to offer. The city’s housing market remains stable despite a nationwide downturn following previous record highs. One reason for this is that the market is being driven by people relocating to the city. “An exceptionally large number of people are moving to Debrecen from Budapest. Some of these newcomers naturally have roots in Debrecen, while others do not. The major cities in the surrounding region and their suburban areas are also significant sources of people moving to Debrecen,” explained László Balogh, chief economic expert at ingatlan.com.
The local authority is also supporting the modernisation of residential properties in Debrecen through its Panel Housing Programme and Built Heritage Renovation Programme. Meanwhile, the Főnix Housing Programme, a unique initiative, helps young employees find accommodation. “If there are employers here who want to help their employees with housing, they can benefit from a tax allowance if they provide support in this way. In addition, the local authority covers one-third of the rent,” emphasised Lajos Barcsa, Deputy Mayor of Debrecen.
The Debrecen New Home Conference fills an important gap by bringing together all the key players in the housing market and helping prospective buyers and investors find their bearings with expert guidance – all in Debrecen, the city of the future, said the event’s host. “Families are constantly looking for and finding their next home here, businesses are planning their futures, and developments are taking shape that will transform the city for many years to come,” highlighted Balázs Tran, property expert.
At the specialist exhibition accompanying the conference, visitors could discover the latest residential property development projects in Debrecen, with more than 500 properties to choose from.
