Szaft 'n Burger is a professional Hamburger Grilling Competition with Cash Prizes: 'The Burger of the Country' This exciting competition, complemented by a steak roast, takes place at the beginning of September by Békás Lake in Debrecen. The primary objective of this event is to host a cash prize competition and gastronomic jamboree, adhering to strict professional standards, in the unique setting of Békás-tó. It includes an impartial jury tasked with selecting 'The Burger of the Country' from among accomplished participants in the professional field. The Burger Festival warmly welcomes families, groups of friends, and children who have a penchant for hamburgers and top-quality meat. In addition to the professional category with cash prizes, there are various other categories to participate in, including an amateur individual category, a team competition, a junior competition, and even a freestyle competition (allowing for the use of other meats, fish, or vegan ingredients). Galiba Festival is a four-day children's festival held during the annual Flower Carnival in mid-August. The festival offers nearly 200 free activities for children and their families over five days in the country’s only classic amusement park. The children’s festival features interactive and exciting stage performances, magic shows, concerts, board games, video games, arts and crafts, sports demonstrations, and a wide range of activities that provide both fun and skill development. It also offers a glimpse into the world of trades and crafts. During the national series of events of the Ars Sacra Festival, the gates of the churches are opened, their architectural and artistic values, and performances, discussions, and children's programs await those interested. Debrecen churches have been opening their doors for years as part of the Ars Sacra Festival. Sacred spaces to be visited during the walk: • Oratory of the Reformed College • Kossuth Street Church • Orthodox Church • Greek Catholic Church • St. Anne's Cathedral • Evangelical Church • Pásti Street Synagogue • Great Church At the sites, you can learn about the history of the churches and get a glimpse of the congregation's spirituality. Those interested can take part in a walk combined with a free guided tour of the exhibition and the music program. The leaders of the respective communities speak briefly about the history of the churches and buildings. During the Botanical Garden tour, visitors  can admire the flowers that are currently blooming, wander the paths, most of which were made in the first half of the 20th century, under the leadership of botanist Rezső Soó.  Passing by the statue  Mihály Fazekas and Sámuel Diószegi it is relieved how many new plant names were created  thanks to the authors of the Hungarian Herbal Book. For the 45-minute forest walk program suitable clothing is recommended. In case of bad weather, visitors can listen to a lecture on the subject. This year as well, the Herding Festival is organised in Hortobágy at a new location, in the area of the Máta Herd (Mátai Ménes). In Hortobágy, following the traditions of the old folk customs, both the shepherds and their livestock prepare for the winter and the animals are driven from the desert pastures to their winter accommodation. Those who come to the event can meet up close the shepherds' animals - Hungarian racka sheep, nonius horses, four-ox buffalo herds, and six-ox Hungarian gray cattle herds, which parade in front of visitors in the company of the shepherds, colts and cattle herders. During the day-long event, there will be a craft fair, shepherd's dishes cooked in a cauldron, and within the framework of the Crane Festival program of the Hortobágy National Park Administration nature science games and craft activities await everyone. At the event, the tradition of lighting the Shepherd's Bonfire, which was revived last year, will be held again this year, with which the shepherds say goodbye to the grazing season. Thanks to last year's great success, this year there will be a Halloween Street Festival again on Batthyány Street.
